General Changes

  • Game is now exported with Electron instead of Node-Webkit. This should allow the Mac and Linux versions to work much better, and the Windows version to run a bit faster.
  • Added a 'Match Options' menu. This pauses the game, and allows you to switch between two different camera modes, as well as turn on/off fighter voices.
    • Game should now remember your choices for Camera Modes and Voice settings.
  • Game now automatically pauses if tabbed out during a match.
  • The 'ESC' button will now do several things when pressed during a match.
    • Can be used to back out of the How to Play screen.
    • Can be used to back out of the Match Options menu.
    • Can be used to skip a cutscene that is currently playing.
    • Can be used to quit and return to the title screen if no other submenus are open.
  • Added a safeguard for fighters falling out of the stage. This should no longer occur.
  • The player now regains 10%/5%/2% of their maximum HP based on the difficulty level.
  • Reduced the chance of an AI performing a perfect evade on easy and medium difficulty.

Fighter Changes

  • Audio and balance changes made to Classic Spongebob.
    • Jump kick now uses the appropriate kick swing sound effect.
  • Audio and balance changes made to Fanboy.
    • Increased the hitstun of Fanboy's punches.
    • Fanboy can now cancel his standing kick into his jump kick
    • The sound that plays when Fanboy blocks is now louder.
  • Visual and Balance changes made to Otis.
    • Otis now has two new alternate colors.
    • 'You Butter Get Down' now slows down sooner.
    • Otis can now cancel his neutral special (except for during startup and ending).
    • Otis's up Special's hurtbox has been extended by 2 frames.
    • Otis's up Special can be perform while on the ground now and can hit up to two times.
  • Visual changes have been made to Rico.
    • Rico now has two new alternate colors.
  • Visual changes and move updates made to Danny Phantom.
    • Danny now has two new alternate colors.
    • Several animations have been redrawn/reanimated to appear less stiff or choppy. This includes the Walk, Jump, Jump Kick, Up Kick, Fall, Punch 1, Punch 2, Punch 3, and Down Special animations.
      • As a result, the hurtboxes for Danny's second punch and up kick have been updated accordingly.
    • Danny Phantom can now cancel into his first punch from his standing kick.
    • Danny Phantom can now cancel into his third punch prematurely from his second punch.
    • Danny Phantom's third punch can be performed for a few frames after jumping following the second punch.
    • Danny Phantom's third punch can now cancel into his jump kick.
    • Danny Phantom can now perform his up kick while on the ground.
    • Danny Phantom can now cancel into his third punch from his up kick.
    • Danny Phantom's standing kick now launches enemies slightly upwards.
    • Danny Phantom's first punch launches airborne enemies slightly upwards.
    • Danny Phantom's second punch has a bit more hitstun, and now launches slightly.
    • His aerial Special has been reprogrammed. In addition to having an optional new input, the move now allows Danny to glide towards the opposing fighter. The projectiles created can hit up to three times now.
    • Changed Danny's Super Special so that when the opponent is put in a knockdown state, time will pass normally for them until they get back up; preventing the knockdown state from taking up the rest of the time spent during Danny's Super Special.
    • Changed the sounds triggered on impact from Danny's attacks.
  • Visual changes made to King Julien.
    • Minor changes made to King Julien's standing kick animation.
    • Minor changes made to King Julien's aerial special animation.
  • Balance changes and move updates made to Dr. Blowhole.
    • Dr. Blowhole now has a down kick wherein he slides forward and hits low with the tires of his vehicle.
  • Visual changes, Balance changes and move updates made to Bessie.
    • Bessie's name has been changed to 'Bessie Higgenbottom'.
    • Bessie's first and second punches have been switched.
    • Bessie's aerial punch is now 40% slower and has a minor slowdown effect.
    • The range of Bessie's low kick has been increased and she now stops moving faster.
    • Bessie's low kick can now be cancelled into her punch combo.
    • Bessie's standing kick animation has been altered slightly and is now faster
    • Bessie's down kick animation has been altered slightly and is now faster.
    • Bessie can now perform her aerial punch with or without using the jump kick.
  • Visual changes have been made to Patrick.
    • Patrick's name has been changed to 'Patrick Star'.
    • Added an indicator that points upwards if Patrick tries to use his Super Special on the ground. Added as a result of some people thinking his Super Special was broken.
  • Audio changes have been made to Spongebob.
    • Jump kick now uses the appropriate kick swing sound effect.

Stage Changes

  • Portia Gibbons will now appear on Pier 31 if the Pier 31 Artifact is not equipped.
    • Note: There is currently no way for the player to equip the Artifact without using debug mode. Artifact will be made available along with a few others in the following update.
  • Pier 31 has two new songs.

Tournament Mode Changes

  • Added a dark gradient effect behind the dialogue box in Campaign Mode for better immersion.
  • Major changes made to the 'Super Brawl' Campaign.
    • Lord Nitro's default icon has been replaced. He can now switch between masked and unmasked icons.
    • The final battle now uses a special variant of the Smashfest stage, as well as the 'Nitro's Champion' modifier.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the CSS where Blue's row offset the roster and it could not scroll down all the way. It also mistakenly pushed some fighters (Globulous Maximus, Punching Bag, Lade) into the 'Downloadable Content' area of the CSS.
  • Fixed a bug where the Series Order CSS could not scroll all the way up or down.
  • Fixed a bug where certain fighters with cancellable specials could mash the special button to unflag their normal moves as already hit.
  • Fixed a bug where Fanboy's brain bounce would sometimes not trigger the screen shake effect.
  • Fixed a bug where Otis's neutral special projectiles would sometimes not hit if the opponent was already in the middle of being hit by another one.
  • Fixed a bug where Rico could get stuck while activating his rage ability based on the timing of the button press/release.
  • Fixed a bug where Danny's Super Special background would spawn too small in boss battles.
  • Fixed a bug where Bessie's low kick wouldn't register as hit if a different move was used right before.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes made Patrick's grab not register after using his standing kick.
  • Fixed a bug where Patrick's AI could cancel out of his Super Special animation by spamming the jump kick input.
  • Fixed a bug where Sheen would get stuck if he used his neutral Special next to a wall he was already touching in the direction of the wall.
